Cinema at the Park

Over the coming weeks the Ministries of Culture and the Environment in association with Leisure Cinemas will be providing free, open-air Cinema at Commonwealth Park.
A programme of well-loved film titles has been selected for screening on Sunday and Tuesday nights starting at 10:00pm which is the earliest time for an open air projection to be successful. The movies to be screened on Sundays will be chosen for Children and Family entertainment. The movies to be screened on the Tuesday nights will be selected for the slightly older film fans. The titles chosen will include all time classics including Superman, Jaws, some classic Bond films, musicals and even some sing-a-long versions to encourage audience participation.
A large screen will be erected at the North end of the Park, which will allow viewing from the spacious lawn area. Refreshments will be sold together with picnic rugs for rental against a small deposit, although members of the public will be free to bring their own if they wish. This event promises to provide family entertainment in the most pleasant outdoor area over the few weeks of summer and is in addition to the Summer Nights events. The full list of films to be screened and the relevant dates for each screening will be published shortly.Screenings in an open air venue are of course subject to cancellation due to adverse weather conditions, especially high winds which can sometimes be experienced even during the summer months.
